Elementary Teacher K-4

Horizon Christian in Indianapolis seeks a Christian educator who desires to work in a growing school. This would be a full-time kindergarten English teaching position beginning in the 2023-24 school year. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Teaching license preferred OR willingness to pursue licensure
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology
  • Ability to maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles
  • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts

Responsibilities:

  • Teaches English Language Arts to high school students
  • Supports Horizon’s vision of Biblical Worldview Shaping combined with academic excellence
  •  Plans, prepares, and delivers biblically integrated instruction
  • Communicates high expectations for all students
  • Effectively plans and prepares for lessons and units that align with Horizon’s Biblical Worldview Shaping and Indiana’s academic standards
  •  Coordinates with other elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Engages students by incorporating and by maintaining a variety of instructional strategies and technology
  • Incorporates evaluation strategies that are appropriate for the students and that are aligned with the goals of the lesson
  • Maintains accurate and complete student records
  • Reviews student records in order to develop a foundation of understanding regarding each student’s abilities and needs
  • Communicates with students and parents concerning their progress in a timely manner 
  • Prepares students for state required achievement assessments
  • Maintains positive rapport with students; demonstrates patience and appropriate nurturing to assist in the growth of the child
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Instructional Aide (IA)

Roles/ Responsibilities

  • Support exceptional learners in the general education setting
  • IAs may go between elementary, middle school and high school
    • Push in classroom support
    • Pull out for academic intervention support
    • Monitor small group testing
    • Small group check-in support
  • General school support
    • Helping with elementary recess or lunch duty
    • Helping with carline dismissal
    • General support of teachers- making copies, helping with classroom materials, etc
    • Occasionally stepping into classrooms to cover when a sub is not available

Middle School Science Teacher

Horizon Christian in Indianapolis seeks a Christian educator who desires to work in a growing school. This would be a full-time middle school teaching position beginning in the 2023-24 school year.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher
    • Teaching license  required OR willingness to pursue licensure

    • Teaches seventh and eighth grade science
