Scion (plural scions)
- A descendant; a son or daughter
- A detached shoot or twig containing buds from a woody plant; used in grafting
- The heir to a throne
- Also used as a synonym to “guardian”
Did you know that, if you have given your life to Jesus, you are not only a son or daughter of God, but you are a child of the King of kings? That is truly amazing! Think about it; chew on it for awhile. According to Ephesians 1:5, God has adopted you as His child and it was His delight to choose you! If we are descendants of Jesus, we are God’s “Scions.”
Are you too old to be a camper and too young to be a counselor?
How would you like to have an amazing summer here at Camp Indy! Why not? This is a cool way to spend your summer: growing in Jesus, learning from counselors, hanging out with kids and sharing the love of Jesus with them.
How old is a Scion at Camp Indy?
13-15 years old. “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few…” Our desire is to train young workers and equip them to minister to their peers. Past Camp Indy campers have had the wonderful opportunity to serve the campers of Camp Indy as a counselor. The experiences and knowledge gained from an experience such as this one can positively impact the course of your life! As a Scion, you will learn the all the fine details of camp counseling.
Scions will be trained by and placed along-side a capable “lead counselor”. They will be with that counselor’s camp each week, where they will be allowed the freedom to exercise their leadership responsibilities. There will be “in class” training, as well as an abundance of training “on the field.” Scions are to report to the pavilion at 7:45 am for staff devotions each day and can stay until 5 pm every afternoon, just like a regular counselor. They can also arrive and leave at the normal camp times.
It is a privilege to be a Scion. You will have the opportunity to be trained up and equipped for more than camp, you will be trained for what life brings. You are expected to be an example to the young campers and everyone around you. If you do not live up to this example, you are not guaranteed to walk as a Scion. Spaces are limited.
Where can I sign up? You can register for Scions like a normal camper. Scions will have a questionnaire to fill out the first day they are a Scion.
Camp Indy also has our New Epics for 13-15 year olds.
